In the run up to the UN Climate Change Conference taking place this week and next in Poznań, the issue of climate change was brought into the public eye by Greenpeace, which publicly demonstrated against coal use. The distribution of 20 million energy-efficient light bulbs, the realization of a long-term programme of thermo-renovation of buildings with an annual budget of approximately 1 billion zloty and the preparation of a plan to develop renewable sources of energy – these are actions which the government should undertake in order to show that it is serious about realizing the energy-climate package – assesses Dariusz Szwed, president of the Polish green party Zieloni 2004. In Szwed’s opinion, the Polish government can recover its credibility in the energy-climate package negotiations in Brussels and in the global climate negotiations in Poznań. Several weeks before the start of the summit, the Polish government built a blocking minority in the EU Council, causing delays in the implementation of the very important EU energy-climate package.

Pokazujemy w niej, że miasta powinny być "szyte" na miarę człowieka, tętnić życiem, stwarzać warunki do pracy, rozrywki i wypoczynku, kreować demokratyczną i otwartą przestrzeń publiczną, wyrównywać szanse obu płci, niwelować zarówno społeczne rozwarstwienie, jak i bariery architektoniczne.
